Der Film „Sad Eyes“ entstand im Rahmen eines Visual-Collage-Workshops mit der Filmemacherin Leona Goldstein während der Veranstaltung Voices of the Next Generations im September 2022 in der Gedenkstätte Sachsenhausen. Petra Hörig bringt darin Fotos von Männern, die im Konzentrationslager Sachsenhausen inhaftiert waren, mit der Harfenkomposition von Marius Flothuis „Pour le tombeau d’Orphée“ Op. 37 zusammen. Der niederländische Komponist war selbst Häftling im Außenlager Heinkel-Flugzeugwerke Oranienburg des KZ Sachsenhausen.

Petra Hörig developed the idea for the film during a visual collage workshop with filmmaker Leona Goldstein during the Voices of the Next Generations event at the Sachsenhausen Memorial in September 2022. The daughter of former Sachsenhausen prisoner Horst Hörig was inspired by a concert with the chamber orchestra of the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam at the Sachsenhausen Memorial on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Dutch composer, musicologist and music critic Marius Flothuis. In her film, Petra Hörig brings together his harp composition „Pour le tombeau d’Orphée“ Op. 37 with photos of men who were imprisoned in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. The Dutch composer was himself a prisoner in the Heinkel-Flugzeugwerke Oranienburg, a satellite camp of Sachsenhausen concentration camp.
